YICTE Townsville 2014 Winners

Congratulations to all participants of the inaugural Townsville Young ICT Explorers! Approximately 50 students from five schools entered the challenge, delivering almost 20 high quality projects. We hope everyone pulled a few words of wisdom from Tristan Davey’s keynote speech – he sure enjoyed spending time with you. Great work Townsville – the judges were very impressed and noted the high quality of all entries! This year’s awards went to:

Years 4 – 5

  • 1st place: Ryan Catholic College with Let’s see ADHD (by Samuel Short)
  • 2nd place: The Cathedral School of St Anne & St James with Solar Popcorn Maker (by Thomas Dallimore, Alexander Donahue, Hamish Finlayson and Toshiro Larsen)

Years 6 – 7

  • 1st Place: Holy Spirit School with Touring Queensland (by Sarah Waddell and Hayden Dunlop)
  • 2nd Place: Fitzgerald State School with Super Sports Balls & Website (by Ella Sippel, Sienna Bachmann and Jana Bassan)
  • 3rd Place: Fitzgerald State School with Robot Hockey (by Ben Allen, Griffin Ward, Dylan Ashford and Aaron Lawn)
  • Merit: Fitzgerald State School with Mr Word’s Letters (by Annerique Goussard and Bianca Little)

Years 8 – 9

  • 1st Place: Whitsunday Anglican School with uTECH Website (by Jake Magro, John Hatfield and Alex Herron)
  • 2nd Place: Ryan Catholic College with Rubbish Heroes (by Alexander Stafford and Otto Harris-Oldenburg)

Years 10 – 12

  • 1st Place: Ryan Catholic College with WAI App (by Jason Hill)
