YICTE grows (and student proposals)

Hi all,

school registrations have now closed for Young ICT Explorers and 2014 is shaping up as a big one. This year we have grown from the two locations of Sydney and Brisbane to five – adding Rockhampton, Canberra and Melbourne. On top of that we have seen a massive growth not only in the number of new schools involved but also the number of projects coming from each school.

Over the past few weeks we’ve jumped on the phone with a whole number of teachers to get an idea of the types of projects, age groups and technologies that are driving this growth. This year’s trends are set to include mobile apps, websites, digital media, software development, social media, some hardware (Raspberry Pi/Arduino), location services and geocaching. This is just from the people I’ve spoken with so I’m sure there are more surprises in store.

As you are aware – student proposals are due on July 7. Remember to upload the proposals as .zip documents. If you have any issues them please email Travis or your local state contact. The team here at Young ICT Explorers is counting down the days until the submissions are due. We’re pretty keen to see what the students have been up to and will notify teams as soon as possible whether they have successfully made it through to the judging round.

Good luck!
